It's not because nothing is happening that you haven't seen a "NEWS!" update here in a bit...

Anyway!

Josh Max (ok, that's me) is back in the studio recording 5 new solo songs---bass, drums, acoustic guitar, piano, electric, and vocal.

JM plays all instruments except drums and is being assisted on backing vocals by the talented Ms. Julie James.

The songs will be released individually on iTunes and will be accompanied, one by one, with videos on YouTube.

This is Josh's first foray into the vid thing, and he is (I am) psyched!

The Maxes are rockin' a retro beat this week at Bennett Studios in Englewood, NJ on behalf of MPL Communications, putting their own take on three classic songs, "Sure Had A Wonderful Time Last Night", originally recorded by Louis Jordan, "Your True Love", written and originally recorded by rockabilly pioneer Carl Perkins, and the 1918 chestnut, "After You've Gone" for the MPL Catalogue.

"It's live piano, bass, drums, electric guitar and singin', all old-school," says Max. "Like cats did before them modern whirly-doodles, whizzers and over-flubbing."

The songs will add to MPL's collection of classic hit songs for use in the film and television industry.

FROM JOSH:

Some of you know of my fondness for the hit Broadway musical "Les Miserables." I've seen it about 25 times.

Today at noon, I'll be singing---solo, except for my guitar---excerpts on SIRIUS XM Live On Broadway. Airtimes appear below.

The set will include the first seven minutes of Les Miz, during which I play all the parts including the work gang, convict Jean Valjean, obsessive cop Javert and dying (then dead) prostitute Fantine.

If you've seen re-make of "The Nutty Professor", particuarly the scenes where Professor Klump turns into Buddy Love and back again onstage several times, you'll get the idea. Ditto key scenes from Steve Martin's "All Of Me."

This happens today at noon, it's free and it's at the Times Square Information Center on 7th Avenue between 46th and 47th Streets.

AIR TIMES ON SIRIUS AND XM:

XM Channel #75
Sirius Channel #77

Friday 1-24 @7 PM
Sunday 1-26 @11 PM
Tuesday 1-27 @7AM
Wednesday noon

All air dates are Eastern Standard Time.
